Synagogue Testimonial

Translation of article to Al-HaGush, the regional weekly paper (Issue 180, April, 2002, p.38):

Tradition ! Tradition !

A number of weeks ago our son reached the age of Bar-Mitzvah, and two days prior to the ceremony of getting an Aliya to the Torah, we drove to the synagogue, in Moreshet to put on Tefilin.  Since we are non-religious “in every bone of our body,” we were not especially excited, and our expectations from the event were not particularly great.

When we arrived at the attractive synagogue (in the last stages of construction [of the lower floor, ed.]), we were honored with a heartfelt welcome and with a hospitality that was touching.  The derech eretz [tr. appropriate manners, ed.] and pleasant approach of the worshipers, who troubled themselves to explain and direct us in each stage of the prayers, left us with a very strong impression.

We, who over a number of decades have grown to associate religion with political maneuverings and money-chasing, were surprised and happy to discover that there exists in our midst (right in our neighborhood) a wonderful Judaism, full of honesty and goodness of heart.

This is the place to thank from the bottom of our hearts the people of Moreshet, and foremost [Rabbi] Itzchak Cohen.  Keep up the great work!
