On the southwest slopes of the Yodfat mountains in
the western Galilee, where Josephus Flavius fought his last battle against the
Romans, amid breathtaking scenery overlooking the Haifa Bay and the Zvulun
valley, lies Moreshet, a young community presently numbering 170 families.
The members of
Moreshet have built a community with a lifestyle guided by the light of
Torah and the classical Zionist ideal. Secular and religious aspects of life are
united, based upon the ideals of the love of Eretz Yisrael, the love of the
Jewish people from all walks of life and tradition, and the love of Torah.
The members of
Moreshet are religious Zionist families, who have served their country in
the army and other national services. Many have Yeshiva backgrounds with
additional academic education in fields such as engineering, finance, law, and
education. Members of
Moreshet can be found in all fields of religious and secular endeavors. Most
of the members are
between the ages of
20-40 years old.
In the
center of Moreshet, appropriate space is allocated to various public functions,
with a special emphasis placed on the synagogue, which serves as a
focal point of the community's activities. Aside from being a place used for regular prayer services, the
synagogue is used to celebrate life-cycle events and for a wide variety of
Torah
classes. A second Mikvah has just recently been built, along
with new medical facilities of Kupat Cholim Clallit. A school
that emphasizes Torah and the environment, several
day-care centers and
kindergartens, and a wonderful park are in the middle of it all. A
youth center provides space for youth activities, including Bnei Akiva and "Oz"
youth movements. Additionally, we are planning an activity center and a
small business center. The Yeshuv also has
sports facilities and a local mini market. Other facilities also exist
(see an internal map or
view some overhead
pictures (400K) ).
Members of Moreshet are
active in the many committees. Each committee
performs vital activities which serve the Moreshet community and greater Gush
Segev population. The Yeshuv boasts a wide variety of activities for
children and adults, including Torah classes for adults
(Heb) and for
youth (Heb), as well as secular activities (Heb) for every
age group.
Moreshet is growing rapidly. In 1997, the first
77 families moved in, and an additional 58 families moved in the summer of
1998. The third phase has been completed, with an additional 65
families joining us by 2006. The fourth phase is currently being planned. We are always seeking
families to join us. Our goal is to eventually be the home of about 450
families.
Moreshet is strategically located just
25 minutes from Haifa, and will be 5 minutes from the cross-Israel highway
(Route 6). The commute to Haifa, Karmiel, Acco, and the Krayot north of Haifa is
very reasonable.
Homes here cost significantly less than
in the cities, and the air is clean too.
