Moreshet Application Process
The Application Process
We are seeking additional families to join us in Moreshet. Below is a description of the process to join us. Before you wonder if this whole process is too cumbersome, you should be aware that it is done in an atmosphere where we want people to join. We want to make it possible to complete the whole proces quickly so that the Moreshet family will grow. Speak to members of the acceptance committee. They will help you along in the process.
The application process for this yishuv is typical of many Israeli yishuvim go and is as follows:
There is discussion presently within Moreshet about modifying this candidacy period.
Please speak to members of the Vaadat Klita about any changes to this process.
In detail:
- Indicate your interest via e-mail, snail mail, or telephone, and the Vaadat Klita ("absorption committee) will send you a booklet of information about the yishuv and a questionaire (these are written in Hebrew).
- If you are then interested in formally applying to the yishuv, fill out the questionaire and send it back to the Vaadat Klita via snail mail.
- The formal part of the process then begins. The process initially involves a meeting at the yishuv with the committee. This first meeting is for the committee to get to know the candidates a bit and for the candidates to ask additional questions. The committee will then inform the couple within 2 weeks regarding continuation of the process.
- If all goes well, the applicants will then be asked to take psychometric tests given by a private organization here in Israel. (These are standard tests that are geared for the purpose of determining if the applicants will fit well into a small community-type setting).
- Once the physchometric test have been taken, the applicants will be invited to a second meeting with the committee. At this meeting applicants have another opportunity to ask questions. After this meeting, the applicants will be notified as to the decision of the committee.
In the past two years, more than 80% of the applicants have been accepted. In all cases, applicants have resided in Israel during the application process.
- If a couple is accepted to the yishuv, they can then officially join the community and start the building process.
Upon registration, a 6-month candidacy period is initiated, during which the candidates are expected to be present as much as possible at yishuv events and meetings.
After these 6 months, the Klita committee decides upon recommendation of the candidates for full membership in the yishuv. In 99% of the cases, membership is recommended.
Upon approval of full membership, members have the right to vote at yishuv meetings and elections and to run for posts on the elected committees.
The process from initial interview through accepance as candidates is typically about 3 months.
